Our
Story:
On Friday, July 30 one of the City of Watertown bus drivers said
she had heard kittens crying pitifully for 2 days. She searched
but couldn't find them. On Friday she saw a little black kitten
lying in the dirt under the big excavator at DPW and looked and
found the red brother inside the engine compartment. The black boy
was chilled. They tried putting the kitten back but he fell out
again desperately crying for its mother to be fed and cleaned, now
nowhere to be found.
DPW was now hauling
in crusher run and it would mean certain death over the weekend
as the feral mom was not coming around with all the activity.
We agreed to take
them and see if we could do anything for them. All the SPCA's foster
homes were full and no one could house them...so they are with us.
The poor things
needed NINE bathings in DAWN dishsoap to get all the embedded dirty
oil out of their fur. It took them 2 days to get over being frantic
and to settle down.
Now..at 3 weeks,
they LOVE their nurser bottle and are just trying to walk around
a little.
Since they are
being hand-raised, they are SUPER affectionate and purr the minute
they get touched!
AUGUST
8:
Our friends have
named us
"Coal" and "Ember"
AUGUST 14:
Today, Ember figured
out how to use his litter tray!! They still love their little nurser
bottles full of goat's milk. By next week or so, we hope to introduce
a little canned food
SEPTEMBER 3rd:
Ember is no longer
available.
However, little
Coal is looking for someone to love him! He is SOOOO affectionate!!
When we talk to him he lays on his side, then sort of upside down
and purrs!!!
